The Dundalk Owls magical season came to an end on Thursday, Dec. 3 with a 55 to 14 lose to Damascus in the 3A Football State Title game.

The Owls fell behind 14 to 0 early after a few turnovers, but were able to start the second quarter on a positive note when Owl Quarterback Darrius Sample ran in a touchdown on fourth down from the Damascus' two-yard line. A two-point conversion cut it 14 to 8 and then Damascus' Jake Funk took over.

The running back scored a record seven touchdowns and had 270 yards as Damascus went on a 41 to 0 run before Dundalk added a late touchdown. The Owls were trailing at halftime 41 to 8.

The Dundalk Owls are headed to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore to play for the 3A State Title. The Owls came back in the final seconds to defeat Potomac 41 to 34. The Owls will be playing for their first state title on Thursday against Damascus at 7 p.m.

The Dundalk Owls season is alive and well. The Owls got off to a 9-0 start and finished they last game of the year at home against two-defending state champion Franklin. The Owls were smoked in a 37 to 18 beat down. Dundalk finished second in the 3A North Region and still qualified for the playoffs.
The Owls took care of business by defeating their first round opponent Aberdeen 34 to 6. It appeared that the Owls would not advance much further as they had to play Franklin in a rematch, but this time at Franklin. Dundalk was able to hang around and pulled of the upset 20 to 14.
Dundalk will now host Potomac in their first trip to the state semifinals on Friday.

Eastern Tech was the other school on the eastside to qualify for the playoffs. The Mavericks went undefeated and had blown out most of their opponents in the 2A region. Hereford and New Town had impressive seasons but Tech destroyed both. Tech did  not get a good first-round drawl as Baltimore City powerhouse Dunbar went to Essex and defeated the Mavericks 28 to 14 to end their season.

Perry Hall finished with an impressive 8-2 record, but that was not enough wins in the stacked 4A North Region. Patapsco had a similar problem last year when they finished 9-1, but finished sixth in the 3A region. This year, the 3A region was not as deep but the Patriots only mustered a 5-5 record.
Overlea also made the 2A playoffs in 2014 but ended with a 5-5 record in 2015.

Kenwood (4A) and Chesapeake (2A) both finished with records of 2-8. Sparrows Point (2A) went 4-6 and Parkville (4A) bounced back from a winless season in 2014 to win three games this season.
