Overlea Couple Charged in Harford County Homicide & Local Robberies

Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have charged two individuals in connection with the homicide of Travis Harrell Best, 34. Best was found dead near the Elks Lodge on Harford Boat Club Road on Aug. 12.

On Dec. 1, Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Lauren Paulette Valiquet, 28, of of the 100 block of Fuller Avenue in Overlea, and Walter McMillan Dorsey, 33, of the 100 block of Fuller Avenue in Overlea.

The warrants are for 1st degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Firearm Use in Commission of a Felony. Both are currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on unrelated charges.

Baltimore County Police have also charged Dorsey in connection with six robberies in Baltimore County. Valiquet is also being charged in connection one of the robberies.

Dorsey has been charged with two counts of robbery and four counts of armed robbery in Baltimore County in addition to the charges in Harford County.

Valiquet has been charged with one count of robbery.

Police Chief Jim Johnson stated "These arrests are a result of the hard work done by our Robbery detectives and I am proud of them."

Dorsey is charged in connection with the following robberies. Valiquet is only charged in connection with the robbery of the 7-Eleven in the 7600 block of Belair Road on Nov. 5.

Nov. 5:  7-Eleven, 7600 block of Belair Road in Overlea
Just before 11:30 p.m. a male suspect and female suspect entered the store, walked up to the soda fountain machine, and got sodas. The female then walked up to the counter to pay for her soda. As the cashier opened the register, the male walked around the counter, told the cashier to keep the register open, and took money from the register. Both suspects then fled the sce

Nov. 7: 7-Eleven, 8000 block of Belair Road in Fullerton
At approximately 4 a.m., the suspect walked into the store, picked up some donuts, and put them on the counter. He then displayed a handgun and demanded money. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Nov. 11: Baskin Robbins, 2300 block of East Joppa Road in Parkville
Just before 8:30 p.m., the suspect entered the store and approached an employee. He grabbed the employee and pressed something against her side that she thought was a gun. The suspect then took the employee to a register and told her to open it or he would shoot her. He took money from the register and fled the store.

Nov. 13 Subway, 1600 block of East Joppa Road in Parkville
Just after 8 p.m., the suspect entered the store. He grabbed an employee, took him behind the counter, and told him to open the register. The male fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Nov. 14: 7-Eleven, 8600 block of Pleasant Plains Road in Towson
The suspect entered the store just before 6 a.m. The suspect displayed a knife and demanded that the employee open the register. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Nov.15: Dunkin Donuts, 6300 block of Kenwood Avenue in Rosedale
The suspect entered the store just before 8:30 p.m. He looked around, and then went into the bathroom. The suspect later exited the bathroom, went behind the counter, and approached the cashier. The suspect put a knife to the cashier’s side and demanded that the cashier open the register.  After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the scene.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Robbery Unit. Detectives continue to work to see if the male suspect in this case is responsible for any other robberies in the area.
